GEORGIA MAY DAVIS, 71, of Bentley, LA died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024 at Legacy Care Center in Pollock, LA. Born on Sept. 8, 1953 in Brainerd, she was a proud U.S. Navy veteran. She enjoyed gardening. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Whitney Davis; one grandson; sisters, Carolyn Schueller, Sandra Abear, Leslie Seely, brother, Lee Davis and nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Services have been held.

PATRICIA MAE SYLVESTER, 79, of Bay Lake Township, passed away on Dec. 26, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on Aug. 8, 1945 in Sandstone to Elmer and Eleanor (Rabe) Lindeen. Patricia married Dean Sylvester in Braham on Oct. 14, 1967.   Pat was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. She enjoyed volunteering at the Mustard Seed in Deerwood.   Pat was a loving mother and her main joy was family. She also enjoyed living the lake life on Bay Lake. Preceding Pat in death are her parents; and three sisters, Marilyn Blum, Janet Nyline and Peg Johnson.

GENE LLOYD BORDWELL,  87, of Crosby, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 27, 2024.  He was born on Sept. 29, 1937 in Deerwood to Lloyd and Marion (Peterson) Bordwell. Gene was united in marriage to Helen Brooks on Oct. 23, 1958 in Crosby. Gene was an accomplished artist and a retired art teacher for the Brainerd High School, Hibbing High School and the Junior College.  He was also a successful business owner of Leuthold-Bordwell Men’s and Ladies Clothing Stores in Cresco, IA and Houghton, MI.  Gene was a people person and loved his family deeply.

Mary Jayne Chuba

MARY JAYNE CHUBA passed away Dec. 20, 2024, at the age of 84 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Dec. 13, 1940. Mary Jayne graduated from Crosby High School. She attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with a dental assisting degree. On Nov. 26, 1960, she was united in marriage to Roger Harry Chuba, they were married 57 glorious years. Mary Jayne worked as a dental assistant, a para at the Upsala School, owned and operated a chicken barn, and traveled the states doing craft shows.

DENIS "DENNY" HENRY BURGWALD, 80, of Deerwood, passed away on Dec. 19, 2024 at his home.  He was born in Crosby on March 14, 1944 to Ernest and Mary (Grimler) Burgwald.   Denny graduated from the Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1962 and Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during Vietnam. He married Leann Siegersma on March 24, 1972 in Crosby.   Denny started his career in autobody work in Minneapolis. He moved back to Crosby where he did autobody work for Carney Middleton Ford and then was the owner and operator of DB’s Collison in Crosby.

MARY ANN LINDGREN was born on Dec. 3, 1935 in Crosby to Dan and Annie Ustipak. She married Gene Lindgren and had three sons, Mark, Michael and David. Mary Ann was a longtime employee of Piper Jaffray. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her parents and her siblings. She is survived by her sister, Mildred; sons, Mark (Connie), Michael (Cheryl) and David (Dawn; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

MICHAEL DAN COSTELLO,  76, of Breezy Point, died on Nov. 22, 2024 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  He was born in Chicago, IL on July 1, 1948 to William and Elizabeth (Lind) Costello. Preceding him in death are his parents and his sister, Susan Mezzenga. He is survived by his life partner, Mary Frost of Breezy Point; two sons, Christopher (Emily Voelkner) Costello of Stockton, CA and Chad (Anne) Costello of Delray Beach, FL and three grandchildren. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.   Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.

JUDITH "JUDY" JOANN THIESFELD, 80, of Deerwood, formerly of Hutchinson and Glencoe, passed away peacefully at her home on Nov. 20, 2024. She was born in Glencoe on Aug. 23, 1944 to Melvin and Marvel (Schultz) Meyer.  Judy married Thomas Thiesfeld in Brownton on June 29, 1968. Preceding Judy in death are her parents; and two siblings, Janet Zajicek and Jerald Meyer.

Peggy (Geotz) Lorenson Obit

PEGGY (GEOTZ) LORENSON, 85, of Crosby, passed away with family by her side on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin. She was born April 23, 1939 in Emily, the daughter of LeRoy and Juanita (Foote) Wiener. After high school, shw dedicated her life to being a homemaker and raising children. In addition to her own children, she spent 47 years as a foster parent during which time she cared for countless others. She enjoyed baking and cooking. She also liked to work with ceramics, especially porcelain dolls, as well as flower gardening.
