STANLEY W. KANGAS, 89, of Crosby. formerly of Deerwood, died on Sept. 18, 2024 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  He was born on April 10, 1935 in Brainerd to Stanley E. and Helen (Bodle) Kangas.   He was a retired Potlatch employee with 36 years of service and was a former president of its union. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. He was an avid outdoors man, enjoyed his hunting and fishing trips. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Nancy in 2011 and one brother, John Kangas.

TYLER SCOTT MARTIN ANDERSON, 43, passed away peacefully at his home in Roberts, ID, on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Tyler was born on Jan. 26, 1981, to Scott and Karen Anderson in Anoka. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2005 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 2007, Tyler moved to Jackson, WY driven by his love for the outdoors. The majestic Teton Mountains called to him, where he became an avid backcountry skier. His love for nature fueled his passion for camping, elk hunting, white-water rafting and mountain biking.

THERESA M. PARENT, 86, of Deerwood and Schroeder, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2024 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her son Thomas Parent and spouse Gerald Parent,  her parents, brothers Jim and Ed Altrichter and many uncles, aunts and cousins. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Gerry Altrichter, her children and their spouses Jeanne and Mark Tobolaski, Ricky and Darla Parent, Jerelyn Parent and Robert Parent,  14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

ALISHA JO ELIZABETH PETERSON, 30, of Ironton died on July 24, 2024. She was born in Rochester on Sept. 19, 1993.  She was employed as a press break operator at Clow Stamping in Merrifield; a former employee of the Holiday Gas Station in Crosby and Subway in both Crosby and Brainerd. She is survived by her mother, Teresa Peterson of Ironton and her father, Joseph Palmer of Minneapolis; one brother, Kobly Palmer of Minneapolis; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ashley and Nathan Plummer of San Angelo, TX and Amber and Stefan Anderson-Hagery of Grantsburg, WI and two nieces.

HOPE CHARLENE WINDORSKI, born on April 23, 1955, made her grand entrance into the world alongside her twin sister, Joy, as part of the bustling Torvinen family of nine. Born to Vilho and Gladys Torvinen, Hope lived a life filled with laughter, love, and a touch of rebellion. As a young woman, Hope set her sights on the local "bad boy," a man who had once come dangerously close to meeting his maker as a child. She often joked that she fell in love with the boy who almost drowned, and from that moment on, their story was one for the ages.

ANDREW "ANDY" CHARLES REHBEIN, 78, of Deerwood, passed away peacefully at his home   with his loving family by his side after a courageous 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer.   Andy was born on Dec. 20, 1945 in Fort Riley, KS where his father was stationed at the time.  He grew up in St. Bonifacius and had many cousins who were among his closest friends in this small, closely-knit community. He loved going to St. Boni; he lit up whenever he was there, with memories of riding his bike up and down every street in the town, fishing in the St.

RAMONA DOLORES BUTLER, 96, of Iron Hub, died on Sept. 6, 2024 at Aitkin Health Services.  She was born on July 24, 1928 in Duluth to Gust and Emma (Steinke) Norain.  She was united in marriage to James “Bud” Butler on Aug. 8, 1948 in Aitkin. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Iron Hub. Precedomg her in death are her parents and her husband, James “Bud” Butler; and two sisters, Marilyn Lind and Rose Weisman.

JAMES GARY GUTENKAUF,  79, of Crosby, died on Sept. 1, 2024 at the Woodland Good Samaritan in Brainerd.  He was born on April 9, 1945 in Crosby to William and Alma (Tholen) Gutenkauf.  He married Linda Wood on Sept. 5, 1964 in Crosby. Preceding him in death are his parents; three brothers, William, John and Roger Gutenkauf and two sisters, Lena Lindquist and Marie Hunner.

DARYL DAVID PROFFIT, 76, of Crosslake, passed away on June 27, 2024 at the Estates at Roseville.  He was born in Pine River on Nov. 18, 1947 to Dallas and Betty (Peterson) Proffit.   He attended elementary school in Fifty Lakes and Junior High in Pine River.  His family moved to Montana in 1962, settling in Gardiner, MT.  He graduated from Gardiner High School in 1965.  He enlisted in the Air Force in 1966, where he served as a mechanic.   Daryl married Dorothy Rae “Dottie” Voeltz and they had two children.

RICHARD "DICK" O. ANDERSON, 89 of Edina, passed away on Aug. 27, 2024. Dick was born Nov. 22, 1934, to Alfred “Andy” Theodore and Olga Peterson Anderson in Manistique, MI. Dick graduated valedictorian of his high school in Crosby-Ironton in 1953. He played trombone in the Senior Band from 7th to 12th grade. He attended the University of Minnesota for pre-med from 1953 to 1957 and for medical school until 1960. He completed his residency at Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical School in New York.
