RICHARD PHILIP POMEROY, 89, died Nov. 19, 2022. He was born in Ironton on July 10, 1933. He began his life journey marrying his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Sally, in 1953. He was a graduate of Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1951. He was a loving husband, grandfather and great-grandfather who always had a positive outlook and a smile on his face. He served in the Navy from 1952 to 1956. He was an outstanding high school athlete playing three sports, continuing with basketball while serving. He was a teacher and coach at Rush City and Anoka, retiring in 1991.

JEFFREY ALLEN HERZENACH, 53, of Ironton, died on Nov. 26, 2022 at Essentia St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd.  He was born to Allen and Mary Lou (Daniels) Herzenach on Jan. 8, 1969 in Minneapolis.  He was a former employee of the C-I Pub in Ironton, Crosby Bar and managed Barstock Liquor in Crosby. Preceding him in death is his father. He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Herzenach of Ironton; his brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Tambi  Herzenach of Ironton and his sister, Audra Herzenach of Ironton and nieces and nephews. A private service is being held.

Mildred E. Winterowd Obit

MILDRED E. WINTEROWD, 95, of Deerwood, died at her home on Nov. 26, 2022.  She was born to Arthur and Jessie (Adair) Johnson on Jan. 17, 1927 in Brainerd.  Mildred was a retired Crow Wing County Health Aid.   Preceding Mildred in death are her parents; her husband, Nelson; one son, Nelson Winterowd Jr., three step-children, Robert and Wally Winterowd and Lois Reckard; one grandson, Christopher Stirewalt and seven siblings.

Marie W. Schaefer Obit

MARIE W. SCHAEFER, 84, of La Crosse, WI passed away peacefully surrounded by family members Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. She was born June 23, 1938 to Ernest and Edith (Johnson) Kutzner in Brainerd. After graduating from Crosby-Ironton High School in 1956, she married the late William T. Erickson, Jr. June 22, 1957. They moved to Morrisville, PA, for his job and, after his death in 1973, Marie found solace in her faith and family members and moved back to Crosby. She married the late Russell Dahlner Jan. 5, 1980.

Monica Josephine Provost Obit

MONICA JOSEPHINE PROVOST reached the end of her 97-year earthly journey on Nov. 18, 2022.  She was born to Arthur and Genevieve Kenyon in Brainerd, March 19, 1925, the youngest of three girls.  She graduated from the Brainerd High School.  She migrated over to Crosby where she worked a couple of different jobs and was even named Miss C-I in 1948.  She worked in an ammunition plant in Nebraska during the war, after which she returned to Minnesota to marry the love of her life, Merrill Provost.  Together they would raise three children.

Dorthy Anne (Thoms) LaVictoire Obit

DORTHY ANNE (THOMS) LaVICTOIRE, 92, of Des Moines, WA, passed away Oct. 29, 2002. Dorthy was born Aug. 24, 1930 to Lauren and Bernice Thoms of Crosby, the third of their 12 children and the oldest girl.  She graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School in 1948, then married John LaVictoire of Crosby Sept. 2, 1951.  Soon after, they moved to Washington where they raised their family and spent the rest of their lives in the greater Seattle area. She lived with her son Doug and his wife Sheila for the last 12 years of her life.
