Plane crashes in Emily

The Crow Wing County Sheriff Scott Goddard reports on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022 at approximately 6:44 p.m., Crow Wing County Deputies responded to Minnie Lake Drive near Emily for a report that a plane had taken off, but had not arrived at its destination. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, Crosslake Police Department, Emily Fire Department, the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office UAS team and Lifelink III, began searching the area. At approximately 8:36 p.m., the plane was located in a wooded area near Minne Lake Drive.

SUSAN "SUE" MARY RUNDE, 72, passed away on Aug. 7, 2022, at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. Sue was born on Sept. 1, 1949, in Mobridge, SD, and moved to Minnesota at a young age with her family. Sue basically spent her entire life in the Crosby area. She came from a large family and was the third oldest of six sisters and one brother.  She worked in the dietary at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center for over 40 years.

Barbara "Barb" Kaye Larson (Craven)

BARBARA KAYE LARSON (Craven), 77, of Minnetonka, died on Aug. 5, 2022 after a brief but fierce battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Minneapolis and graduated from Waconia High School. She spent her professional career in the “people business.” She was proud to serve customers at the King’s Inn in St. Louis Park for more than a decade. Later in life, Barb and Todd became successful entrepreneurs. For nearly 25 years they owned and operated The Hallett Antique Emporium and Abbey House Antiques in Crosby.

GAYLE ANDERSON, 81, of Brainerd, passed away peacefully on Aug. 4, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society– Woodland, surrounded by her family. Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday Aug. 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church with a visitation starting one hour prior to the service. Gayle was born on Feb. 1, 1941, to Clarence and Louise (Soggie) Anderson in Crosby. She was proud of her employment with Crow Wing County for 30 years. She was a longtime member of the YMCA and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Gayle was an avid reader and was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

LEO JOHN CEMENSKY, 80, of Fifty Lakes, died at his home on Aug. 7, 2022.   He was born on March 27, 1942 in Lexington Township to Anton and Emily (Trczinsky) Cemensky. He married Vikki Dunham on Dec. 10, 2001 in Fargo, ND. He was a retired member of the Operating Engineers Local 49 Union.   He is survived by his wife Vikki; two sons, Lee Cemensky of Las Vegas, NV and Jeff (RaNae) Cemensky of Fifty Lakes; one daughter, Desiree Dunham of Elida, OH; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

JUDITH "JUDY" ANN (BURGSTALER) BUCKLEY, 79 of Hinckley, passed Aug. 15, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. Judy was born Sept. 2, 1942, to John and Irene (Lind) Burgstaler in Crosby. She married Gary Buckley on Oct. 9, 1976, in Fridley. She loved her life, family, friends and her puppy dog Sofe. Her spirit shined through to all who knew and loved her. She touched others lives in a positive and upbeat way. Judy was the life of the party– vibrant and full of love and lots of laughter. She was a dental assistant who loved gardening, shopping, decorating her home and of course, flamingos!

JAMES JESSE HUNTER, 73, of Crosby, died on Aug. 17, 2022. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Ironton American Legion Post 443. Private family interment. Jim was born on Nov.18, 1948 to Claude and Evelyn (Deen) Hunter in Walsh, CO. Jim was a man who was constantly on the go, starting at age 13 when he entered the work force.

JOE PATRICK GHERITY, 53, of Brainerd, died on Aug. 1, 2022, at his home. He was born Oct. 4, 1968 in Ely to Beverly Ann (Johnson) Gherity and Joseph Patrick Gherity. He graduated from Como Park High School, he served in the Army for two years graduated Welding School and Cordon Bleu Cooking School. He is preceded in death by his grandparents.
