Free Frozen Meals April 19

Free frozen meals for seniors age 60 and older will be distributed at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center on Monday, April 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud’s Senior Dining program.

Notice is hereby given that the Annual Meeting of the members of Mille Lacs Energy Cooperative will be held at The Grand Casino Mille Lacs, 777 Grand Avenue, Onamia, on Thursday, May 6.  Registration will begin at 3:30 p.m. and the annual business meeting will begin at 5 p.m.  The purpose of the meeting is:
—Election of directors from Districts 2, 5, 6 and 7.  In accordance with Article III, Section 4 of the Cooperative’s Bylaws, directors shall be elected at the annual meeting by those members who are present in person, vote online, or by mail vote.

Bay Lake, Fairfield and Rabbit Lake Township hold elections March 9 for township seats.
In Bay Lake Township, Justin Smith, the incumbent, and John Enright filed for a three-year term as Supervisor and Mindy Tix, the incumbent, filed for Treasurer. a two-year term.
For Fairfield Township, Leslie McCoy filed for a three-year term as Supervisor and Kathryn B. Hachey filed for a two-year term as treasurer.
In Rabbit Lake Township, William Dangers has filed for the supervisor seat, a three-year term. There were no filings for two-year treasurer seat.

Kaleidoscope fund-raiser for area cancer patients

The public is encouraged to participate in Kaleidoscope, a virtual cancer patient fund-raiser planned for October. All proceeds will benefit Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s Courage Cabinet which aids area cancer patients undergoing treatment.
Because cancer doesn’t stop for COVID and patients undergoing treatment now more than ever need help and financial support, Kaleidoscope will take place the entire month of October and include an online auction, presentations by healthcare providers, survivor stories and a social media challenge.

Ironton Legion Memberhsip Appreciation Dinner

The Myrin-James American Legion Post #443 in Ironton will host a Membership Appreciation Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 10. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m.
All current paid members of the Ironton American Legion #443 Post, Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion (SAL) are invited to attend, as well as their spouses, for a complimentary meal.
Current 2021 Membership dues will be accepted at the door.

 

Medallion Hunt

The Crosby-Ironton Courier is sponsoring the 2020 10 Days of Summer Medallion Hunt.
The rules are simple. Clues are posted twice daily. The first clue will be posted on the C-I Courier’s Web site (www.c-icourier.com) at 8 a.m. and in its front window located at 12 East Main Street in Crosby on Monday, Aug. 17. The second clue of the day will be post at the same two locations at 4 p.m. Clues will be posted until the medallion is found.

With the Tuesday, Aug. 11 state primary election soon approaching, Crow Wing County and local election officials are taking steps to ensure voter and election judge safety in all our polling places. “Election officials at the state, county and local levels have been working together to provide a safe environment for both voters and election judges,” stated Crow Wing County administrative services director Deborah Erickson.

ECTC Virtual Annual Meeting Aug. 17

Emily Cooperative Telephone Company will host its Virtual Annual Meeting on Monday, Aug. 17 at 3 p.m.
At the meeting, members will be updated on past and future news; review the 2019 financial statements, announce winner of the Board of Director opening and any other business as may properly come before the meeting.

Drop-off site for Emily Outing Fifty Lakes Area Food Shelf

The Fifty Lakes Bar and Bottle Shop located at 40430 County Road 3 in Fifty Lakes is a designated drop-off station for Food Shelf. A box is located in the entry way for non-perishible food items.

The Emily Area Food Shelf, located at 20948 County Road 1, is open the third Wednesday of each month from 9:30 to 11 a.m.   and the following day of the same week, Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
