Celebrate the sights and sounds of the holiday season at Cuyuna Christmas, a myriad of events the first weekend of December throughout the Cuyuna Lakes Area, and support Smiles for Jake, a local suicide prevention movement that spreads positivity through the message that everyone should have hope. Deerwood Fire Summerfest 5K/10K Run/Walk

The Deerwood Fire Department Summerfest 5K/10K Run/Walk will be Saturday, Aug. 14. Registration/check in is at 7:30 a.m. at the Deerwood Fire Station. The 10K race begins at 8:30 a.m.; the 5K race begins at 9 a.m. 5K fees are $25 per entrant before Aug. 4; $30 per entrant after Aug. 4; children under 12 are free. 10K fees are $35 per entrant before Aug. 4; $40 per entrant after Aug. 4; children 12 and under are free. There is no registration fee for children 12 and under, however, they will not receive a T-shirt with their registration.

Deerwood Lakes Lions at Summerfest

The Deerwood Lakes Lions will be in the Deerwood Auditorium during Summerfest, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 13 and 14.  It is having its Rummage Sale with all types of products as well as  a Bake Sale with cookies, bars, small breads of various flavors, etc and pies of different kinds.  Come and shop at The Lions location for many goodies from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.

Deerwood Summerfest 2021 Back to Business Raffle will raffle three $500 cash prizes donated by Northland Smiles Dental Care, the Deerwood American Legion and Roth RV Sales and Service. There will also be a $500 raffle bundle from Deerwood Bank. Other prizes donated by area businesses include a two-night stay for two at Ruttger’s Bay lake Lodge Resort; Play and Dine Package with Cuyuna Rolling Hills and The Deerstand; a gift certificate from Deerwood Furniture and a gift card from Super One Foods. The Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post  #557 of Deerwood is proud to announce the following schedule during Summerfest to be held Friday and Saturday, Aug. 13 and 14. Friday, Aug. 13:

—Pancakes and Sausage/Biscuits and Gravy, 7 to 10 a.m.

—Carmel Rolls, 8 to 10:30 a.m.

—Bake Sale beginning at 9 a.m.

—Bloody Mary Bar and Specialty Drinks beginning at 10 a.m.

—Beer Garden, soft drinks, water and Margaritas, 10 a.m.

—Pull Tab Extravaganza, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

—Pork Chops on a Stick and fries, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
