Mountain Bike CREW Annual Meeting

The 2020 Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew Annual Meeting will be held Thursday, Jan. 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Cuyuna Range Elementary School (CRES), 509 Sixth Avenue NE in Crosby.
The agenda for the meeting includes discussion of the accomplishments of 2019 and the goals for 2020.

ATV CLub receives $25,000 form IRRRB

The meeting of the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board held in Eveleth Thursday, Dec.19, The Over The Hills Gang ATV Club received unanimous approval from the board for our $25,000 regional trail grant request to help with the construction of the Emily Blind Lake Trail. This grant helps us fulfill our obligation to raise 35 percent of the construction funds (roughly $40,000) needed to construct this new trail connecting the Emily-Outing ATV Trails to the Aitkin County Blind Lake Trail. OTHG Treasurer, Jim Remington, and Club President, Perry May, attended the IRRRB meeting.

Must have a permit to snowmobile in Rec Area

Conservation Officer Karl Hadrits, Crosby, reports working ice fishing, snowmobile, and cross country ski activity.  Numerous enforcement contacts were made for violations including snowmobile registration and excessive speed, and no vehicle permits in the Cuyuna Country State Recreational area.

Just For Kix offers special session classes

The Crosby Just For Kix program is offering three dance sessions on Tuesdays at Cuyuna Range Elementary School.  All classes will be asked to perform on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the C-I High School.
—Winter Teeny Kix is for ages two to four years old. Their routine will be “Let’s Dance.” Classes will meet frm 4:45 to 5:15 p.m.  Dec. 3, 10, 17 and Jan. 7, 14, 21 and the show Jan. 25. Tuition is $46.50. Uniform is leotard, tutu, tights, shoes and hair.

Celebration dart tourney for Pat Pierce

Cycle Revolution Tuesdays at Hallett Center of Crosby

Take part in an awesome ride with varying intensities. Get that heart rate up with lower impact on your joints.  Classes are held each Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The class is free to Prime Pass holders at Hallett Center of Crosby, $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers.

Cuyuna Global Fat Tire Day

The Cuyuna Global Fat Tire Ride will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7 starting at 9 a.m. The ride will be awesome on the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails in the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area.
Breakfast at 9 a.m. at the North Country Cafe in Crosby. The ride will include:
10 a.m—Rolling down to ride the updated Yawkey Unit and most like Portsmouth Unit as well.
Noon—Head up to Red Raven in Crosby for lunch.
1 to 1:30 p.m.—Meet at main trailhead to ride Mahnomen Unit (bring extra clothing and warmers if needed).

Hallett Center Hockey Passes Available

Hockey passes are available at Hallett Center of Crosby.
Tuesday and Friday Morning Hockey are $5 for members per visit; $10 for non-members per visit; $25 for member Prime Pass; $175 for one-half pass (20 days) and $300 for Season Pass (40 days).
Sunday Night 25+ League must be internediate to advanced in skill level to participate. $125 for the season. New participants receive a jersey.

Chronic wasting disease testing in mandatory in Crow Wing County

Minnesota deer hunters must bring their harvested deer to sampling stations to be tested for chronic wasting disease in the central surveillance area; north-central and southeast management zones; and the southeast control zone on opening weekend of firearms deer season Saturday, Nov. 9, and Sunday, Nov. 10.
