JAYNE E. BIALON, 68 of Emily, died on June 17, 2020 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.  She was born in Hammond, IN on March 26, 1952 to Leonard and Helen (Hanusin) Baranowski.  She was a retired teacher from the Pequot Lakes High School.  She taught English and Speech. She was a member of St. Emily’s Catholic Church in Emily, and the Crosslake Art Club and she was a member and past President of the Crosslake Garden Club.

Donna Yvonne (Struble) Odonovich Obit

DONNA YVONNE (STRUBLE) ODONOVICH  was born Feb. 16, 1925 in Crosby. She died July 1, 2020 in Eau Claire, WI. Donna graduated salutatorian from Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1943 and due to WWII, continued to live at home, working to help support her parents and younger brother. In 1946 she married Robert “Bob” “Chubby” Odonovich and together they raised a family of six children. In 1969 they migrated from Minnesota to Wisconsin with the opening of the Inland Steel Taconite mine in Jackson County, as did many other families who left underground mining on the Cuyuna Iron Range.

Wayne L. Maier Obit

WAYNE L. MAIER, 90, of Brainerd, died on June 20, 2020 at his home.  He was born in Crosby on Aug. 16, 1929 to William and Esther (Hendrickson) Maier.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Wayne married Doris Emmaline Evenson on Aug. 16, 1952 in Brainerd.  Wayne was a former M.A. Hanna Mining employee.  He also mined in Babbitt, Liberia, Iran and Casa Grande, AZ.  Together with his wife they owned and operated the Highview Campground in Pequot Lakes and Hidden Paradise Resort and Campground in Brainerd.  

Roy Tasche Obit

ROY TASCHE, 79, a former founding partner in Minnesota Automation Services, Inc./ Riverwood International (now part of Graphic Packaging) in Crosby, who retired in the late 1990s, passed away after a brief illness in Haven Homes in Maple Plain on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019.

Cheryl Marie Buchite Obit

CHERYL MARIE BUCHITE, 58, of Nisswa died on March 20, 2020 at her home.  She was born on May 9, 1961 in Pipestone to Norman and Colleen (Girard) Lange.  She graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School, class of 1979 and continued her education at Central Lakes College with  a Legal Secretary degree.  She married Neal Buchite, Sr. on Feb. 25, 1984 in Deerwood.  She was a former City of Ironton employee and a baker at Shaffer’s Food in Nisswa.
Preceding Cheryl in death are her father, Jack Lange; one brother, Tom Lange and a granddaughter, Monica Buchite.

Carol Jean Nygard Obit

CAROL JEAN NYGARD, 75, of Crosby, died on June 21, 2020 at Heartwood Senior Living in Crosby.  She was born on Aug. 16, 1944 in Crosby to Leonard and Mildred (Nord) Nygard. She married Dennis Kagel on July 14, 1962 in Crosby.  She worked with John and Mary Kay Papenfuss at Papa John’s Pizza for many years.  She retired from the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby from the medical records department. After she retired, her priority was taking care of and spoiling her grandkids.
Preceding her in death are her parents; one son, Joe Kagel and one sister, Judy Thoms.

Orpha Marcell Randall Obit

ORPHA MARCELL RANDALL, 95, of Aitkin, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2020 in Riverwood Healthcare Center, Aitkin.  She was born Aug. 22, 1924 in Crosby to Albert and Minnie (Kreiger) Randall.  She graduated from Crosby High School.  She worked at Fritz’s Candy Company in Newport for many years until moving to Aitkin.  She enjoyed watching birds, flowers and embroidery.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.
Orpha is survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Glenda Eslinger Celebration of Life

A Celebration of Life for Glenda Eslinger will be held on June 27, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Deerwood American Legion. 
There will be a special time of reflection at 12:30 p.m. so please have a memory to share. 
Food and refreshments will be provided. 

Joseph Merrill Provost Obit

JOSEPH MERRILL PROVOST, 64, of Van Alstyne, TX died on June 12, 2020 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.  He was born in Crosby on Feb. 14, 1956 to Merrill and Monica (Kenyon) Provost.  Joe was a retired retail clerk with the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1167 in Palm Desert, Indio and Palm Springs, CA with 30 years of service.  After Joe retired he moved back to Crosby.
Preceding Joe in death are his father;and one son, Joey Provost.
