Jean Melenich obit
JEAN O. (BEDARD) MELENICH, who passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019, was born to William and Johanna Bedard on Jan. 10, 1929 in Ironton. She graduated in 1947 from Crosby-Ironton High School and attended Crosby-Ironton Junior College. She taught in several school districts in Minnesota for many years including in her home town of Crosby-Ironton where she substituted during her retirement.
Jean married Robert “Bob” Melenich, whom she had liked since the fourth grade, on Nov. 28, 1953 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. They had two children Nancy and Mike, whom they raised in Minnetonka. Upon retirement in 1987, Jean and Bob built a home on Hay Lake, near Ironton. Jean was active in the community in her retirement through her role as President of the American Legion Post #443 Auxiliary.
Preceded in death by husband of almost 60 years, Robert, parents, William and Johanna Bedard, brother, Fred Bedard, sister, Blanch Lund and brother, Earl Bedard.
Surviving Jean are daughter, Nancy (Dennis) David, grandchildren Brandon and Britni of Coon Rapids; Son, Mike (Michelle) Melenich of Motley, grandchildren Justin of Fargo, ND, Johnathon of Duluth, and Mariah of Fargo, ND. Great-grandchildren Bo and Ty of Fargo, ND. Sister, Joan (Wayne) Gutzman, Crosby and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no viewing or funeral services, these were her wishes.
