Mary Weis Obit

MARY WEIS, 91, of Crosslake passed away on March 23, 2026 at Essentia St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. She was born on May 17, 1934 in Perham, MN to Peter and Gertrude (VanErp) Minten. She married John Weis on June 7, 1955. She was a teacher in a one-room school house in the Butler area; a Fairfield Township Treasurer and Election Judge with 20+ years of service; active member of St. Emily’s Catholic Church in Emily and Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake; volunteered for MCCL (Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life) and the Emily Food Shelf. She had a love for playing cards, gardening, quilting, knitting, making jam and caramel rolls. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, unwavering faith, and the deep love she had for her family. Her spirit lives on in family traditions, and the memories held close by those who loved her. She is survived by five sons, Wayne (Bev) Weis of Fairbanks, AK, Randy (Linda) Weis of Bloomfield, KY, Mike (Sherry) Weis of Chanhassen, Patrick (JeanneMarie) Weis of Cornelius, OR and Kevin (Robin) Weis of Mahtomedi; seven daughters, Theresa (Patrick) McBrady of Park Rapids, Marilyn (David) Dymit of Quakertown, PA, Cathy (Tom) Robinson of Hastings, Amy Reiser of Grand Rapids,  Karen Weis of Maple Grove, Sharon (Thomas) Anderson of Centerville, and Julie (Mike) Traylor of Wyoming; one sister, Lucille Altringer of Waverly; 29 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her husband, John; son, Timothy; daughter, Laura; her parents; two brothers, Martin and Joe Minten and one sister, Irene Moenkedick. Mass of Christian Burial has been held with burial at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Emily. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
