Hazel Mae (Wilenius) Fletcher Obit

HAZEL MAE (WILENIUS) FLETCHER, 86, a resident of Emily for 48 years, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family. Born May 9, 1937, at her home in Bear River, (St. Louis County), she owned and operated the Sportsman's Bar in Bear River and was the community Constable. When moving to Emily, she and husband Robert owned and operated the Tastee Twist for years. She also worked at Madden’s Resort for 15 years. She tremendously enjoyed the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved the land where she lived, and grew a huge garden year after year. She loved to hunt, fish, rice, and worked very hard maintaining her yard, filled with the beauty of plants and flowers. Hundreds of hummingbirds would come back—year after year. Survivors include two daughters, Debby (Fletcher) Martz, and Peggy (Fletcher) LaBorde; one son, Alan Fletcher, all of Emily; one sister, Mrs. Erland (Joyce) Alto of Nevis; one brother, Gene Wilenius, Wyoming; two step-sons, Robert Fletcher, and Gary Fletcher, both of Washington; two stepdaughters, Julie Newman, and Tammy Newman, both of California; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no funeral services. A celebration of her life will be held at her home in June, 2024, for family and friends.
