Name Deerwood's deer contest

Every year, the Deerwood Deer is dressed up in different apparel to go with the changes in season.  You will see the Deer sporting his Blaze Orange during hunting season, a red nose and santa hat during Christmas, and even now the Deer is doing its part to stop the spread of the corona virus and wearing a face mask. But the deer does not have a name, and that is about to change.
The public is encouraged to suggest a name  for our “dear” deer to: info@ deerwoodcommerce.com.
The entry submission window is from Aug. 3-15. The winner will be announced Saturday, Aug. 22. Each e-mailed submission must contain the suggested name for the deer, your name and your telephone number. One submission per person, no early or late entries accepted. For multiple same names entered, the first one received will be the one entered into the contest.
The week of Aug. 18, Deerwood Civic and Commerce will narrow the names down to the top five entries and ask the Deerwood City Council to vote (by e-mail) on the final name no later than Thursday, August 20.
The winning name and winner will be announced at the live concert, on the air Saturday, Aug. 22.  This event will be heavily promoted by Hubbard Radio, as well as by the Cuyuna Lakes Chamber, Crosby-Ironton Courier, Brainerd Dispatch and other media.  Winner will receive a $50 gift card, Deerwood Bank sweatshirt and a one year subscription (on-line and hard copy) to the Crosby-Ironton Courier.
